“From exotic to fantastic” from September 6 to the end of October & Mondial des Puces “Fantastic Flea Markets” at Paul Bert Market (Path 6 Booth 79). 

September will be exotic and fantastic for Galerie Vauclair. Exotic at 24 rue de Beaune where Mr and Mrs Hamilton, couple of collectors who lived in 19 Century will reveal a part of their collection in their burmese garden and house. Will be fantastic at the Flea Market in Saint-Ouen where extraordinary objets will be presented during the Nocturnal from September 16 to September 18.

Article in Weltkunst Magazine

The German magazine Weltkunst speaks of our vase Medusa Barbizet in an article on the Belle Epoque (March 2016). You can find the article on our website and download it to read.

Mixing various inspirations, this large vase shows Victor Barbizet’s ability to create new forms and ornaments. Despite the absence of visible marks or signature, this piece can be attributed to Barbizet who followed the path of Bernard Palissy, giving a new birth to the naturalistic style that the potter of the Renaissance 

named "rustic figulines". Fostered by the new interest of collectors and connoisseurs in earlier historical times, several ceramists of the second half of the 19^th century progressively rediscovered the techniques of the Renaissance period.

In the center of the vase, the Gorgon Medusa faces the viewer. Skillfully represented, her face appears frozen in a "silent scream". This expression has been an important source of inspiration for artists from the Antiquity to nowadays. But mythology is not Barbizet’s only source. The artist and ceramicist plays with traditional shapes borrowed in former styles and mixed it with insects and animals much more indebted to the work of Bernard Palissy.

Three important events...

Inauguration of our third shop - Biron Market, went 1 booth 48

We actively start the 2015-2016 season in Saint-Ouen Flea Market with an installation in Biron, one of the oldest markets. Known for many years in Paul Bert, we’ve decided this year to put our suitcases also in that other large important market which brilliantly illustrates the high times of the History of Art, including the 19^th century. 

18 - 19 - 20 September 2015 - Flea Market Party "Les Puces en lumière" - Paul Bert Market (Went 6 Booth 79) & Biron Market (Went 1 Booth 48)

The year 2015 was declared by UNESCO "International Year of Light". To celebrate in its own way this unprecedented event, the Saint-Ouen Flea Market has decided to put this topic in the spotlight. For the occasion, we have chosen a completely unique piece, spectacular and full of fantasy: a metal monkey floor lamp by the school of the sculptor Michel Zadounaïsky (1903-1983), artist known today for its renewal of iron art in the 1930s.

As second stop in the journey between Paul Bert and Biron markets, you will discover an atypical work in Laurence Vauclair’s collection: an important tapestry made by Israeli artist Hedva Ser for the Manufacture Aubusson-Robert Four.

Another key piece of this exhibition, again a monumental masterpiece, result of an exceptional technicality: this is a unique flamed stoneware vase attributed to the French Manufacture of Pierrefonds.

From 22 to 27 September 2015 - Circuit of Ceramics, 24 rue de Beaune 75007 Paris - "Sèvres entre Art Nouveau et renouveau" / Taxile Doat & Auguste Rodin

Galerie Vauclair will exhibit for the occasion a unique collection of pieces created in Sèvres, for the National Manufacture or in private workshop. Three pieces for two important artists, two famous names for the decoration in the Manufacture of Sèvres during the late 19th century and the beginning of the 20^th.

Spring 2015 : Garden in the spotlight

For this Spring 2015, Galerie Vauclair prepares beautiful events with winter garden as a topic. For the second time this year, the gallery participates in "Jardins, Jardin aux Tuileries" which takes place at the Tuileries Garden in Paris from 4 to 7 June.

For the occasion she will exhibit some of its beautiful rattan furniture but also artistic ceramics to recreate the universe both warm and exuberant of the winter gardens of the second half of the 19th century.

As foretaste to the event, the gallery exhibits at the Hotel Renaissance Vendome bar, located 4 rue du Mont Thabor 75001 Paris, from May 26. The partnership will run until June 14. You will have three weeks to have a drink in the bar with a unique atmosphere and especially redecorated in a Napoleon III spirit. The hotel is close to the Tuileries Garden, so you can easily get to "Jardins, Jardin" during the few days of the event ...

And besides these two events on the theme of the garden, Galerie Vauclair of course still welcomes you in Paul Bert Market (Saint Ouen Flea Market), went 6 stand 79, including Saturday, June 6 for the special night organized to celebrate Fooding 15 years. For the occasion, the gallery has chosen to work again with Quintessence, candles and perfumes, exposing in its stand some candles designed by chefs.

Galerie Vauclair starts 2015 with a beautiful partnership, both with China but also and especially with the prestigious spirits brand Royal Salute (Pernod Ricard). For this partnership, Laurence Vauclair offers his view of the importance of time in her expertise works, the relationship between works of art and time/luxury, the question of "vintage" and the value of antiques... For us it is very important and interesting to get out a bit in the field of antiques and break the often artificial boundaries drawn between different areas that represent common values.
